Installing a Speedometer Drive Gear on a 727

I pulled out the plug that was in my 727 speedo cable surface area, from when I rebuilt information technology as at the time I didn't have the speedo gear, or housing.
now I practise, what is the order and how does all install using proper seal, o ring, prune etc?

some "layouts" I detect show the seal below housing others above and both have it ii unlike directions...

The big orange o-ring goes around the housing to seal it to the trans example.  The modest black o-ring goes inside the housing and seals the speedo gear to the housing.  The o-band installs from the outside.  The prune goes in Afterwards the seal is in.

I like to put a piffling trans fluid on the gear shaft before installing information technology into the housing.

When installing the housing into the trans example, yous'll run across some #s cast into the housing.  This corresponds to the # of teeth on the speedo gear.  This is how y'all decide how to orient the housing in the instance.

The black seal goes in from the threaded cease with the lip facing down.... The ring retains information technology.... The O ring should exist cocky explanatory...  When installing the adapter in the trans you need to align it based on the gear molar count, it should match up with one of three groups stamped into the adapter....  That grouping needs to align with the index mark on the tail housing...

so this would exist right

It's from the service manual, why would you question information technology?

Wow... Looks similar a service transmission photo but good luck trying to make that work.... Crazy...  I encounter your point..

2nd instance is the Chinese-Fiat version.

I assume the transmission needs to be drained to do this. Correct?

No need to bleed the trans.  A little fluid will come up out but not a lot.  Put a pan under the speedo housing as you remove information technology.

Can I just slide the old gear out and the new i in without removing the retaining ring and seal?

Yes, the gear will pull correct out of the housing.  Brand sure you lot look at the numbers on the side of the housing and become it in the right orientation when you reinstall it.  Depending on what gear is in it at present, and what gear y'all are replacing information technology with, you might have to alphabetize the housing to a different spot.
